#FridayFeature: Elisha LaRocco

Welcome to Feature Friday! This is the section of our new site where we get to gather around, learn from one another, create together and get to know each other. For the next couple of months, we will be introducing you to a different person in our region who is involved in making worship happen.

Today, we are featuring Elisha LaRocco. Elisha is a part of the of The Vineyard Church in Rockville Centre, New York.

Tell us about yourself!

My name is Elisha LaRocco! Born and raised in New York where I still live. I grew up with a mother and father, and three brothers, who I have awesome relationships with. I am currently 23 years old, and a college graduate with a BFA in photography. I am interested in all different kinds of art, but music will always be my number one. I sing, play piano, and play guitar. I enjoy writing music. Whether it's collaborating with others or writing on my own, I always find joy in creating sounds.

In what way do you serve the worship team?

I am one of the worship leaders. I sing, and I play piano.

What is a book that changed your life?

Surrender To Love by David Benner. I read it at a really interesting point in my life where I was starting to find out WHO I really was, and who I wanted to be. That book helped me stick to my identity and conquer a lot of stuff I had cooped up inside. It also showed me who God can be to me, and why He is the way He is.

How did you first meet God?

I grew up in the church, I was born into it. So growing up as a kid I was told there was a God, and so I believed in Him. But once I hit my teenage years I ended up falling away. I never fully turned my back on the church, or stopped believing in God, but I didn't live the way I wanted to live. I met God all over again once I learned to do good for myself and shake the fear I was unknowingly living in. God immediately changed my heart and helped me to be strong and bold.

What is a worship song that your church is engaging with?

What is something that you like to do outside of your Church?

I enjoy meeting new people! I also enjoy doing my freelance work which I do on the side from my regular job. I am a photographer, so I photograph events, portraits, parties, etc.

What aspect of worship ministry gives you the most joy?

Being able to be a vehicle for the Holy Spirit to impact the congregation. Worship is such a great time for someone to get impacted by God. I usually pray for that to happen throughout each service every Sunday.

What is the best piece of advice you've been given?

1. Always follow the Holy Spirit. 2. Be humble. 3. Serve where your strong suit is.
